I prefer using the same application across all operating systems to handle similar tasks. With messengers and calendars, it’s easy. But when it comes to system utilities, like file renamers, things get a bit more complicated.

I prefer using the same application across all operating systems to handle similar tasks. With messengers and calendars, it’s easy. But when it comes to system utilities, like file renamers, things get a bit more complicated.

Fortunately, there’s Flut Renamer — a free, open-source file renamer that’s even available on mobile devices. I tested Flut Renamer on Windows 11, and overall, it’s easy to figure out its functionality, though there were some issues.

The application allows you to add files, folders, and subfolders, but you need to select the corresponding option first. When adding a large batch of files, you can immediately apply a filter to specify which files to add.

Next, you have the option to add multiple renaming rules at once. The process is executed from top to bottom, but you can change the order at any time.

You can replace, delete, insert, increment, regroup, transliterate, and trim names. Of course, each rule has additional settings, like support for Regex and case-sensitivity options.

Once the rules are set, the bottom panel allows you to specify what to do with the processed files. You can choose to process only selected files or delete all renamed files.

Other than that, by pressing the Start button, Flut Renamer begins renaming files according to the set parameters.

The mobile version (Android 14) is identical to the desktop version, both in functionality and interface.
