Nowadays, working on a computer without a VPN can be challenging. On macOS, this can become even trickier due to a small system bug that disrupts Wi-Fi functionality when connecting to or disconnecting from a VPN.
The Problem
My spouse and I share a single macOS computer under different user accounts, but this issue can occur even in single-user setups. When switching users or reconnecting to the VPN, some websites and apps load correctly, while others don’t.
The root cause is that macOS doesn’t properly update system files in the SystemConfiguration folder.
The Solution
To fix the issue, you can use the MacOS-WiFi-RepairApp utility. Simply launch the app, press OK, and it will clear the contents of the SystemConfiguration folder. After restarting your computer, everything should work as expected.
