There are many situations where you may need to run two windows or two separate instances of the same application. Unfortunately, this is often impossible because the developers simply did not build such functionality into the app.

[**Parall**](https://parall.app/) solves this problem by making it easy to create a shortcut that launches a second copy of an application with a wide range of customizable parameters.

When you launch the utility for the first time, you’ll need to choose what you want to duplicate:

- An application
- A folder or file
- A script or any command

To be honest, I didn’t really understand the purpose of the last two options. Perhaps they could be useful for opening several folders at once or executing multiple commands with a single click.

The option to launch a parallel version of an application, however, is much more interesting. It allows you to run a second instance of an app even if it doesn’t support this feature out of the box.
