How to open OFX file

OFX (or Open Financial Exchange) is an open file format for storing financial information created jointly by Microsoft and Intuit. Despite its openness, there are not as many applications for reading it as it seems. In today's article I will talk about several such utilities.

ProperConvert (Windows, macOS)

This is a desktop converter for files with various financial information. You can submit CSV/Excel, PDF, QFX/OFX/QBO, QIF, MT940 formats as input, and receive Excel, Quicken or Quickbooks files as output.

There is a free version. The paid version will cost $19.99 per month.

Intuit Quicken (Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, web)

Despite the fact that this is a cross-platform application that is available even online and on mobile phones, this option is not suitable for everyone. If only because it is a full-fledged finance manager with the ability to import OFX files.

Cost: from $2 per month.

Moneydance (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS)

Another application for complete control of your finances, which stores your data locally in encrypted form. Supports OFX import.

Cost: from €10.15 per month.

KMyMoney (Windows, macOS, Linux)

Also a finance manager with the ability to import OFX files. This time it's free. It was originally developed for KDE.
