A **card BIN** is the first 6–8 digits of a credit or debit card. These digits allow banking systems to identify basic information about the issuing bank and the card type.

Why would you want to check a BIN yourself? For example, if you are testing a payment system and want to make sure everything works correctly. Or if you issue a virtual card and want to find out which bank actually services it.

You can check a BIN using specialized online services. One example is the [bin checker](https://cardinata.com/bin-checker) by **Cardinata**.

To perform a check, simply enter the full card number or just the first digits of the card. After that, you will immediately see information about the bank that issued the card.
