How to Delete Application Data on macOS

Аpplications on macOS can still generate unnecessary clutter over time, which remains in the system even after the applications are uninstalled.

macOS is considered more secure against various threats compared to Windows. However, applications on macOS can still generate unnecessary clutter over time, which remains in the system even after the applications are uninstalled. Therefore, simply moving an application to the trash is not enough.

For proper and complete removal of programs on macOS, it's better to use special utilities. For example, Pearcleaner, which is available for free, has open-source code, and specifically addresses our issue.

Right after launching, you'll see two sections with data that can be deleted using the application.

  • User Data: In my case, these were the application data for Google Chrome.
  • System Data: This includes the data of all installed applications on the computer.

To delete application data or the applications themselves, you can drag them into the Pearcleaner window or simply select them from the list. Then, check the necessary items for deletion and click the delete button.

Pearcleaner will immediately remove all the specified information, making your operating system a little better and cleaner.

If you wish, you can go to the application settings and activate various advanced options. For example, cleaning Homebrew applications, adding a context menu in Finder, and more.
